From yesterday’s star-studded and touching show, tonight American Idol went back to business which means that one of the Top 8 had to pack and say goodbye to the Idol stage.

The bottom three tonight consisted of Carly, Syesha, and Michael. Not that big a surprise considering they all had weak performances, though hardly the weakest, last Tuesday (Michael screaming, Carly looking angry, and Syesha doing a Fantasia). Too bad that despite their efforts last night to raise money (reportedly $60 million and counting), the show has to go on. Luckily for Syesha and Carly, they were declared safe, until next Wednesday at least.

Needless to say, Michael had the lowest number of votes which left everyone in the audience open-mouthed in shock. Most people probably had expected that no one was going home since during the same-themed show last year, no one was booted out.

Poor Aussie hunk clearly holding back his tears. But hey, with his looks, his voice, and that hot accent, he can surely find a career in music. Just never ever cover Dream On again.
