Idol Flux

Aside from the celebrities who graced the Idol fundraiser, Idol Gives Back, the other good thing to watch for were the performances. Of all the stage singing, the most memorable ones were Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher performing Before He Cheats popularized by Carrie Underwood. The clip before that was equally hilarious. It made me forget the racial slur she’s made in her show before. Here it is for your enjoyment:

The other unforgettable moment was when the Idols sang Seasons of Love from the broadway musical Rent. It was a sensational rendition of the song, and most importantly, Kristy was astounding. I never expected her to belt it out beautifully, after all, to disappoint us weekly seems to be her mission in life. She may actually be safe this week, and from now on, she’d better impress. Big props for the whole group for excellence.

Tonight marked a significant event in Idol history. It was where fashion met destitution, A-list saw the Z-list, and Hollywood became the United Nations. Idol Gives Back, the Emmy-winning charitable event sponsored by Fox Broadcasting Corporation, Fremantle Media, and 19 Entertainment, came back tonight to tap our good hearts and stir our humanitarian awareness. Despite being called American Idol, the show has created such a craze in the US that reaches far beyond its geographical scope. It isn’t merely because of the bloopers during the audition, the talents that are discovered, or the gossips that surround each celebrity in the show, it is rather due to the fact that dreams can be achieved in spite of every obstacle the dreamer needs to overcome–and American Idol makes those dreams possible.
